Out of School Provision
Due to COVID-19 and the restrictions placed upon us in the Early Years guidance and guidance for out of school provision, we have temporarily suspend this service. We hope to resume as soon as possible
All staff within our Out of School Provision receive a full induction into the role and regular training and support to ensure the activities provided are stimulating and meet the needs of the children attending ensuring children’s choices are planned for. Ratios are determined by the type(s) of activity and the age and needs of the children. In line with the statutory framework, the EYFS is not formalised within our Out of School Provision. However, the activities provided and the interactions between the adults and the children do result in many aspects of the EYFS being offered.
School Escort Service
In order for us to provide the maximum safety whilst escorting children to and from school, we carry out risk assessment and review our procedures periodically to meet the changing needs of the children, parents and schools.
We ensure that staff dropping off and collecting the children are familiar to the children and the schools and as far as possible continuity maintained. Periodically, or when necessary, schools are provided with an updated list of the children we collect and photos of our ‘escort team’. Staff are provided with ID badges that display the Sandcastle’s logo, their photo and signature and emergency contact details. Staff carry mobile phones to be used only in the event of an emergency.
Parents/carers are asked to inform us of any alterations to normal dropping off and collection arrangements.
Our child escort service operates on minimum ratio of 1:6. Our staff know to take the most direct route to their destination. We liaise with schools to agree a safe collection point for our Out of School service.
